Removing Roaches From Your Home: 4 Different Options You Can Consider

Have you recently noticed an influx of roaches lingering around in your home? You may have decided to clean and sanitize everything in the home to try to get rid of them, but you may still continue to find them crawling on walls and surfaces, including your dining table. Not only are they annoying to see, but they could even trigger an allergic reaction. If you feel like you are going crazy because of these pests, you can try several different techniques that could help you remove them from your home.

1. Create Your Own Roach Spray

You can make a concoction and spray it around the home to kill these pests. One of the easiest homemade roach sprays involves combining equal parts of borax and water in a spray bottle. Once you have added both ingredients into the spray bottle, put the lid back on and shake vigorously for at least a minute before spraying in areas where you are finding these pests.

2. Start Removing Clutter From the Home

You may live in a small home and have a lot of belongings. However, if there are many boxes stacked on top of one another, toys piled up in corners and sheets of paper all over the place, the roaches will have more places to hide. They normally prefer to hide out in some of the darkest spots inside the home, and you may notice they scatter around like crazy as soon as you turn the light on in any room.

If you can take care of the clutter now, you may be able to get rid of at least some of these pests. Consider going through any cardboard boxes and getting rid of the things you do not need. You may want to donate these items or trash them if they can no longer be used by someone else. Even if you do not want to part with specific items, it may be time to put them in a storage unit instead of leaving them inside your home where the roaches might try to hide out.

3. Use Citronella Oil in the Home

Citronella oil is a natural repellent against those stubborn roaches. The strong scent of the citronella may help to keep them away. If you would like to use this method, consider applying the oil directly to a cotton ball and placing it in areas where you are often finding these roaches. You could put one soaked cotton ball in each of your kitchen cabinets. As long as you are only applying the oil to the cotton balls, the scent should not be too overpowering for you to deal with. In fact, you may like the fresh smell of the citronella in your home.

4. Contact a Pest Control Company

When you are only dealing with a few roaches here and there, those simple and natural options may work out well. However, you may still need the extra help. If you are continuously dealing with some of these unwanted pests, it is best to contact a pest control company that can take care of the roaches for you. The method of treatment will depend on the different techniques the exterminator can offer to you based on the type of infestation you have in your home.

The exterminator may choose to use a roach bait gel around the inside of the property.  Aside from the bait gel, the pest control professional could place bait stations around certain areas to catch the majority of these roaches in those commonly frequented spots inside your home. A residual spray may even be necessary to combat the infestation and ultimately eliminate these pests from the property.

Most people do not want to see roaches in their home. If you are seeing them and would like to remove them, consider these different options. You can try to handle the problem on your own, but you can also get professional help so that these pests will go away a bit faster. Contact a company like Ace Walco & Sons Termite & Pest Control for more assistance.
